another crazy get-up for watering the garden

you may recall that i am in the "dress-myself" phase. you might also wonder what exactly it is that i am wearing... well, my green crocs, my big-kid underpants, a tank top, the mouth-piece to one of those steam-machines at the doctor's office {they let you take the mouth-piece home incase you need to use it again, because they would otherwise throw it away -- who knew it would make such a good 'fish-costume' ?!?} and my mama's sunglasses. one of my favorite things to do in the yard is help water the grasses and the veggies. i could spend hours in charge of the hose.
holding baby maggie

despite all of the babies that have been born recently, i do declare that this was the first time i have actually held a baby! it hadn't even occured to me that i could until eliza was holding her baby sister on a recent visit to our house ... it was pretty cool and i was so careful. i really liked having them over to our house!

last sunday at the weizels

we shared a very REAL family-evening with the weizels last sunday. i had a lot of fun helping jeremy fill the bird bath and generally had fun being a curious boy. i was obsessed with this bird feeder {that maeva's grandpa lowel made for baltimore oriel birds} and even stuck my finger in the grape jelly ... it was like i was every other bird ... besides the oriel.
it was a hot evening, maeva was fussy from not taking her normal nap, and i hadn't pooped in 3 days {because i was potty training and back then, i was still afraid to go number 2} ... let's just say we kids made for a very eventful night and the grown-ups relationship has grown to a whole 'notha level of reality.
{oh, and i did make it into the potty that night, once we got home!}
potty training update: 100% peepee-trained, 99% poopy-trained.

the zoo & the 4th of july

2 sunday's ago, we met marin and her parents at the minnesota zoo. we had soooo much fun there! i really liked holding marin's hand as we walked through the zoo, but after a while she got tired of it and wouldn't let me anymore. {my mom told me i need to get used to girls} ;) you can also see that i was wearing my sunglasses and my winter hat with "ropes" on it. my mom kept telling me it was too hot to wear this hat, but i insisted. she thinks it is because i wanted to be more like maeva...?
and here you see me and marin at wayne's house on forest lake for the 4th of july. i had a lot of fun with my cousins. i even told wayne a knock-knock joke from one of my books. "knock-knock" "who's there?" "wayne" "wayne-who?" "wayne wayne go away ... come again another day. -- ha ha ha ha!" {yes, i laughed everytime i was done telling the joke. you'd think i take after my mom, or something!?!?}

i've become a singer
yes, singing is my new past time. i sing at the table, on the potty, in my kiddy-pool, while mom is on the phone, in the car and when it is time to go to sleep. my mom is proud that i'm finally catching up to the girls. ;) i put on this little concert one night while i was eating my toast before bed.

trained via 'comando' method
yes. that is right. i am going in the potty! my momma took my diaper off on thursday and kept me bare the entire day. i have pretty much been going in the potty since then. now, of course there have been some exceptions {lessons} along the way - like the 'trying to squeeze it into the diaper in the morning because my mom put one on me for bedtime' but i really only pulled that one once. and the dump {or two} in the big boy pants because i waited too long. but, as scary as it was, i did poop in the potty {he he - i said poop on my blog} on friday night and i got to go to dairy queen for an ice cream cone to celebrate! **{my mom will blog about the whole 'reward-based system' in her own blog.} i even went peepee in the toilet at the ZOO on sunday - those big toilets are scary, but i pulled if off with flying colors! my mom is so proud of me. {i'm pretty proud, too. "i DID it!"}

dressing-up

last week, i would have worn my too-small chicken costume (from the last two halloweens) everyday, all day - if my mom would have let me. i just love dressing up and wearing interesting articles of clothing. my workman's goggles are also a common accessory in my wardrobe. the only item missing from this outfit are my black cowboy boots, but i had to take them off to go to bed. (yes, i got to sleep in my chicken costume that night.) i put it down the laundry chute before we left for duluth and so have forgotten about it ... momemtarily. you can see, however, that i can make do with most anything. here, my belt makes a fantastic headband.

fathers day_childrens museum

for father's day, we met shigeru and masa a the children's museum. first we made some BIG bubbles. {shigeru was the best at it.} and there were other water activities, which i absolutley LOVE. i had so much fun! and i could have moved right in to 'our world' - i mean, they have everything one would need: a grocery store, a restaurant, a uniform shop, a house and front porch with clothes lines and a dog house, a doctor's office, recording studio and post office. there was even public transit! after working my shift at the post office, and delivering all the mail in my bag, it was off to our favorite place to eat: QUANG .. tofu egg rolls & ice cubes. nummy!
we all took a long nap that afternoon. a perfect sunday...

grand old days

this is my second cousin, marin. i really like playing with her. she is older than me and tells me how i should do things and i say, "ok" because i want to do everything that she does. and she shares with me ... like this sunday when we were at the grand old days in st. paul, we both won a little frog as a prize from a kiddie carnival game and i lost my red frog, and she gave me her pink frog. but it was so small, that i lost that one out of the wagon, too and i got so worried that i had to say over and over again, "marin, i lost your pink frog." and then she said, "i know, silo." and i said, "ok"

memorial day weekend

memorial day weekend was a mix of activity. my momma had a work meeting on saturday morning (and she got to go on an airplane!) and then she and papa went to a wedding on saturday night - so i got to spend the evening with my auntie PHON! we went to visit marin and markda in st.paul and we had SOOO much fun! i sure was tired that night. on sunday we went to the minneapolis farmer's market and i ate one whole ear of corn all by myself, for the second week in a row! (living-up to my nickname silo-corn) we spent monday tending to the garden and general spring cleaning of the garage and house. my PA-TU came for dinner.... i really like this picture of us together!15 May 2008

maeva's first visit to my house....

i was so excited that meg and jeremy and maeva came to our house for dinner on sunday. they had been out running errands, and my parents just knew they could use a hot meal waiting for them on their first real day out as a family. i got to watch meg change maeva's diaper. i was mesmerized by her and knew to be very gentle. i wanted to show her all of my favorite toys but had to show meg instead ....... did you know that maeva starts with M?02 May 2008

"what dat spell?"
for the past several weeks, i've been pretty intense about letters and how words are spelled (well, at least what letters different words start with)...i know how to spell my name and can identify every letter in the alphabet .. regardless of the order. (i'm still working on singing the whole alphabet song, though -- that timing/speech/coordination thing is a little hard for my bilingual-ish tongue.) you can see (below) a couple videos my mom took of me putting together an alphabet puzzle....one of my favorite past times. i should also give props to SUPER WHY - the pbs cartoon that has really gotten me interested in letters and words.

girl baby
last night before i went to sleep, my mommy told me that meg was going to have her baby and that i'd get to meet it in the morning. she asked me if i thought it was going to be a girl or boy and i said girl baby. turns out it was a lucky guess! because this morning my papa and i drove to the hospital to find my mommy (who had gone to the hospital first thing in the morning) and to meet my new buddy. i thought it would help to call out to the girl baby so that we could find their room...."maeva....where are thyou?"

innagural time-out day
for the first time in my life .. my behavior pushed my mother to the point of giving me a time-out. i am still in the midst of my terrible twos - so i figured i would start pushing the boundaries to see how far they go. my sassy-ness today had me nodding my head yes to the question, "do you want a time-out?" until i knew what it involved and then i realized that i wasn't too fond of them. i admit to having a short term memory (or else the terrible juices were just flowing freely because) i actually received 2 of them just today! ........ however, tonight after my bath, i took the little "tock" off of the counter in my room and told my mom, "i want a time-in"

lussi is FOUR

my cousin lussi turned 4 back in march - but she was in utah at the time, so i didn't get to go to her birthday party. well, they are finally back at home and last weekend she had another birthday party that i got to go to! it was so much fun with a super-cool-not-missing-a-thing-CANDYLAND cake, and a dora mermaid scavenger hunt, a pinata, and yummy meal. i really like to give compliments these days, so before we left i made sure to tell my mommy (who then made me tell cory & kara) that it was a nice party.

the easter bunny!

the easter bunny came last night! i was so excited to see if he had come, that i went to the front door first thing - instead of just checking my easter basket. my easter basket was filled with a bunch of different eggs filled with different treats like goldfish and teddy grams and pennies and jellybeans and m&ms.... he even hid little candies all around the house -that silly easter bunny! it took me a little while to catch-on, but i did manage to find them ALL ... i ate a bunch, too!

who would have thought?

who would have thought that we'd have nearly 3 days of straight snow after getting a glimpse of spring with 40+ degree days leading up to the storm? granted, it wasn't a blizzard, really - more of a constant soft snowing from friday through sunday morning. i took advantage of it - with hours of snow-playing in the back yard everyday. staying out until my snow-gear became soaking wet. i think that's a good sign that it's time to go inside.

that took a while

my mama and papa finally painted my room...well, at least one wall in my room (& touched-up another.) once the decision was made to paint one wall a color, there was a three-way competition going on between blue, green and yellow. as you can see, yellow won-out :as it often does with my parents - heavily persuaded by my papa... our house up in duluth was also painted bright yellow many years before i was born and my papa was even driving a bright yellow (spray-painted) truck when he first met my mama: so you can see it runs deep - not that i mind, though. i like yellow too, despite it being a hard word for me to say.
