11 months old!

my window perch

this is my favorite place in the living room, because i can stand at the windowsill and the window is at the perfect height for me to look outside and watch the process of our new patio being constructed. sometimes it is just my dad, and other days it is a whole bunch of landscape-construction guys. i will stand and watch them for 15 minutes at a time. it's really cool!

shirthead -- always fun!

little monkey

i am a big-time explorer, climber, and LOVER of things with buttons: cell-phones (preferrably operational, and i can tell immediately if it is) and remote controls top the list. i am also finding new ways of playing with/in my old toys.....

sticky noodle!

playing by 'the pool'

i've started smiling for the camera, or simply when i am having fun or think i am cute. my mom was lucky to catch a picture of it!

teeth and noises

i now have 5 teeth {a new one popped-up on the bottom last week} and my gums are puffy on top where two news look to be on their way.

i have really turned into a jabber-jaw - "talking" to myself with more consonant/vowel combinations than my mommy can remember. i shake my head when i don't want to eat something that my mama is holding in front of my mouth and sometimes even say "na. na." perhaps MOST exciting {for my mama} is that i figured out how to roll my tongue today which it means i'll be able to roll my R's if i ever learn to speak Finnish.

ready to take off!

i'm having a blast pushing things around. at MaTu's house i push my walker around instead of sitting in it to walk...and at home i like to walk behind the laundry basket. i am soooo ready to walk, i'm just working on getting the balance-thing down.

"KING SILO"

This is my Ma-Tu and Pa-Tu and Sister-Rosaline (Ma-Tu's cousin from Thailand). I have been spending my days with them for the past month. Sister Rosaline will be in Minneapolis for one more week before going to Michigan to spend time with other friends and family before going back to Thailand.

Ma-Tu has given me a new nickname (not to replace Silo-corn, but to add to my list of nicknames) ..... "King Silo"

(It really has taken hold already -- my mom thinks it is especially appropriate when going on walks in my CHARIOT stroller!)

my papa

my papa is teaching me about cool things.. like architecture and colors -- and how to play the xylophone (silo-phone) -- which is a lot like hammering -- which ultimately brings me closer to helping him with projects and hanging out in the garage ;)

caught-ya!

my mama caught me in the action of taking all of the books out of the bookcase. i like to move things (push&pull), take small things out or off of bigger things and basically make a mess of it. i am approaching toddler-hood...

memorial day weekend with the KEOs

i had a lot of fun hanging out with uncle sam, cousin marin, cousin allison, and cousin rylan!

like a big boy...only small

i went to the doctor today for my 9 month check-up. i have grown, but am still very small for my age (tenzin has surely passed me up!)

Height: 26.5" (5%)
Weight: 15lb. 12oz. (3%)
Head circumference: 17 7/8" (75%)

I've got a big head - it's my learning engine.

I also have an ear infection....same time as my mommy got sick and missed 2.5 days of work. not sure if i got her sick or if she got me sick (i think it was me) but anyway...i am on antibiotics for 10 days and that should make me feel better. bummer, though, huh?!?

FORT!!!

my mama and anutie phon made me a fort this morning in my 'playpen' {the living room} using a colorful old marimekko sheet from my great aunt ilona. i really liked playing my 'ding ding' {piano} in the fort - but then again, i like to play the piano anywhere. i'm still a little young to realize just how cool the fort really is - but i catch-on pretty quick, so one of these days i suspect i'll want to spend all day in there!

9 months old!

i am now 9 months old. i don't know how much i weigh, exactly, because i don't go for my check-up until next week, but i have grown a lot and learned so many new tricks! as you can see, i am super strong and can even do 'push-ups' now. my mom and dad finally got a 'gate' up in our living room to help define my super-awesome playroom (the living room). i have 4 teeth (2 up/2 down) and am eating all sorts of foods and have started to show signs of trying to communicate myself with sounds and and physical gestures. i am SUPER happy and love to laugh, flap my arms when i am excited to see someone i know, and can wave hello and goodbye. i'm talking up a storm (especially on my very own cell phone {mama's old one} that i am fully aware does not work) and have a full vocabularly of consonant sounds: dadada, mamamama, bububububu, gugugugu - as well as unique sounds like my abrupt "uuuugh" when i am trying to make something happen (like peas and cheerios jump on my highchair tray), and the sucking-in squeel-laugh...and perhaps most fitting-> a toungue-clicking sound. my parents are convinced that i will be walking early, because i love to try letting go, but we'll see if i can master the whole balance-thing. i love my mama and papa - but will chose my mama over anyone at any time. i am a mama's boy!

my favorite book

my yellow potty

while i still pee in a diaper (and occasionally on my Ma-Tu) ... it is never too early to learn to sit on my yellow toilet. who knows when it will really come into good use!
