christmas 2007_01:KEOBOUNPHENG

we spent the sunday before christmas with my keobounpheng family at ma-tu and pa-tu's house. we had some really yummy food: sticky rice, bamboo soup, pad thai and nappa cabbage salad -sap-sap! we even remembered to take a picture of the whole group! and i love this picture that my papa got of ma-tu and her "baby" bruno!

infection hair

last friday the doctor told me that i have an ear infection. i was in a lot of pain and had a pretty rough weekend waiting for the antibiotics to kick-in. i slept really late on monday morning and you could tell i slept pretty hard - because LOOK at my hair! my mom is calling it my "infection hair."

my mom downloaded a bunch of our christmas pictures at grandma & grandpa's house and forgot to take them home with us (that's why i haven't posted any yet...) -- they'll be coming shortly...

a tux!

my uncle chad is getting married in february and i am going to be a ring-bearer. my grandma found me a black tux and i got to try it on this weekend for the first time. my momma has been telling me that i am going to have to walk down the aisle and stand (very still) while they get married. i'm taking it very seriously and everyone could see how special & important i felt it that black coat! i can't wait for the wedding!

wow - nice bed!

you can see that my parents were busy this weekend .... changing my room from a nursery to a boy's room. they took my crib out and put in a twin bed (the same bed my mom slept in as a girl!) - you can also see that my windows have been painted white (along with every other window in the house - my mom says "an attempt to get a few more years out of our 50+ year old windows") and the walls have been patched and primed and are ready for a new coat of paint. i'll post more pictures once it's been painted --- but thought i should mention that i've slept in my bed 2 nights (& 1 nap) and have not even fallen out! bedtime routines are going through some adjustments, though......

SNOW!!!

Today we walked to the sliding hill by our house and had a whole bunch of fun playing in the snow! i got a ride in the sled and jabbered jibberish the whole way there and back. one of the things my mom could understand of my important conversations was "eat white snow.....eat white snow...eat white snow"
(i want to eat snow a lot and she told me that i couldn't eat yellow or brown snow.)

me & cat hat

my mom wanted to get a picture of my new haircut.
i wanted the "cat - hat" to be in it with me.

hair cut!

my momma cut my hair last sunday. i tried to sit really still - but it was REALLY itchy! i tried to brush the hair off of me, but it stuck to my hands. so i decided i'd just suck my thumb and wait for my mom to clean it up -- and i got some in my mouth!! what a sticky mess! my mom is still finding some of my hair on my chair - where does it come from???!!?!?!?

"wear glasses"

my parents friends, bob & susi, gave me these glasses when i was born. i asked my mom if i could wear them again ... after some investigating i realized - they don't have any lenses!

my first photographs

my momma was getting the camera ready to take a picture of me and my great grampa & i took it from her and wanted to take a picture by myself. because i was so clear in my intent, she decided not to take it away from me and instead, she helped me turn the camera on and showed me which button to press. these are my first 9 photographs...in order (starting top left)

great grampa

this is my great grampa. he is 96 (and has the same birthday as my momma) he came over to our house to eat supper. my momma made a special finnish dessert for him : suomalainen pannukakkua (oven pancake.) i drew a picture for him and gave it to him so that he could take it home and put it on his fridge. i really liked having him at our house!

lil panda beo

this is the little panda bear that i got as a treat when going shopping with momma. i wanted the little one, because the big one was too scary (scary face)

halloween

i was a chicken again this year (because the costume still fit me) but perhaps i should've worn the lion costume that i got from lussi, because everyone thought i was a girl! (is it because hens are female?!?! my mom NEVER thought of that!) well - anyway, i sure had fun! meg & jeremy and phon & shawn came over to spend the evening. the guys stayed home to hand out candy and watch a horror movie & the ladies came trick or treating with me. i rang almost every door bell and said "treat please" (couldn't get the trick part) and i got A LOT of candy! --here is a picture of jeremy being spooky behind the door while my papa was trying to take my picture. that jeremy sure made me laugh!

what a weekend!

my momma's family came down on friday to celebrate my uncle chad's birthday - and my cousins lussi & sofia stayed the weekend. we had so much fun!
this is my new friend, mimmu. i think she is GREAT! can you believe she was able to get the three of us together for this photo (while maintaining the 'tent' !?!) we had so much fun playing with her!

lussi and i played together all day long. we ate next to eachother at the table, hopped & jumped around in the living room, climbed into my crib all by ourselves to play for nearly half an hour, and we even got to take a bath together which was super fun (lussi is such a good pretender!)
we had lunch at the sculpture garden on saturday, but momma forgot to bring the camera. :(

on sunday morning -before they went home & before we went to my other cousins' baptisms (rylen & brecken)- we went to the farmers market and picked out some pumpkins. lussi and i got to climb around the big pumpkin 'patch' and both got to pick-out a small one for ourselves. i also found a fork-lift that i couldn't break-away from for even a second to pose for a picture.
what a great weekend!

win-pooh & tig

shawn got me a stuffed win(nie-the)-pooh and tig(ger) and i LOVE them!! i sleep with them and take them to ma-tu's house, too. i have developed a habit of hopping around like tigger - it doesn't matter where we are, what my parents want me to do, or where i am supposed to be going ... i will hop-hop-hop around like tigger.

i also like to trim things with my clippers (actually they are a tool from my toy tool box) - like cutting phon's hair, or trimming tigger's toe-nails or even grabbing piglet's nose.

crossing fingers ... on both hands

my momma can't figure out where i learned how to do this!
ps. how do you like my nap-py hair?

see my new gloves

these new gloves, that my mommy got me from the general surplus store in downtown ELY, sure are neat! i love the fact that each finger gets its own compartment. she also got me a light blue hat to match!

builder

these aren't the best shots (from papa's cell phone) ...but it gives you a good idea of my ability to stack and build towers out of most everything. here, we're at my parent's favorite restaurtant (quang -review from 1999, back when it was the hole in the wall that jot went to) and i've put my chop-sticks into my water glass and then balanced my soup spoon on top of them. quite the balancing act!

acrobat

my mommy thinks my legs look so long in this picture - how do i grow so fast???

i'm really into doing cart-wheels. i also do yoga with my momma (mostly i crawl under her legs when she's doing certain poses - but...) i can do downward dog (and even raise one of my legs while doing so!) --- but jumping is probably my FAVORITE thing!

apple farm on a perfect sunday morning

magic

after spending sunday morning at the apple farm, we drove back to minneapolis and had a picnic lunch at lake calhoun. i was playing with mama's fork and thought it was pretty cool when it stuck out of my mouth...but look at what magically happened to be caught on film! i dropped the fork from my mouth right as papa snapped the picture and it appears to be floating!

" pay car " {i want to play cars}

my mommy was quick enough to capture this set-up during one of my playing-cars-sessions: Papa Mater is towing the garbage truck with a purple truck on top of it, while carrying Baby Mater on his head ... a line of cars is parading behind him in a line. {ps. mater is a tow truck and one of the characters from the cartoon movie CARS. i have two maters, so i call the big one "Papa Meo" and the small one "Bebe Meo"}

wedding fun - fun wedding

we woke-up this morning and drove north to a morning wedding for one of my mama's friends. when we arrived, my cousin lussi ran up to me and gave me a big hug. i had so much fun playing with her outside in the midst of all the trees! the coolest thing is that i finally was able to get both of my feet off the ground in my FIRST ever JUMPS as a boy! look-out, here i come!

trees: branches & leaves

when my great-auntie Nona was visiting us for my birthday, she taught me how to draw tree-branches (the long line) with little leaves on them (the round circles & dots). she was suprised that i actually listened/watched her and then tried to do it myself. -- well, this drawing is for auntie-Nona ... i drew it today - which means i still remember what she taught me. (and for the record, my mom did not tell me to draw trees - she had nothing to do with the matter!)

framma banet {blanket from grandma}

my framma made me this quilt for my birthday. i love it! i like to sleep with it and watch Curious George with it. the coolest thing is there are farm animals on it and i can play a game of matching the same animal in different places. (see, i found 2 cows!) framma must have spent a lot of time cutting and sewing all the fabric (you should see how meticulous the sewing is!) and she made it just for ME, wow! -- "tuuuut - framma!!" (thank you, grandma)
